Fried Green Tomato
This traditional southern dish pairs perfectly with a glass of homemade iced tea on a warm evening. Try your hand at fried green tomatoes today!
Ingredients:
5 Large Green Tomatoes
2 Eggs
1/2 Cup Whole MIlk
1 Cup Flour
1/2 Cup Panko Crumbs
1/4 Cup Cornmeal
1 TSP Black Pepper
1 Cup Vegetable Oil
Directions:
Slice tomatoes in 1/2 inch slices.
In a medium bowl. mix eggs and milk together
In a separate bowl, mix flour, panko crumbs, cornmeal and pepper.
Coat the tomatoes in the eggwash, then into the crumb mixture.
Fry on the stovetop over low/ medium heat for approx. 5-10 minutes on each side. They should be golden brown.
